As part of Japan’s rapidly growing offshore wind energy sector, we’re thrilled to be involved in the Yamagata Yuza Offshore Wind Project [1]. This is a great opportunity to strengthen our partnership with Marubeni Offshore Wind Development (MOWD) and a big milestone in our renewable energy journey.
Barrington Energy’s contribution to the project
The Yamagata Yuza Offshore Wind Project is set to produce 450 megawatts (MW) of power [2]. The project was awarded to a consortium led by MOWD, including also Kansai Electric Power, BP, Tokyo Gas, and Marutaka [3]. Located off the coast of Yamagata, near Yuza, the wind farm is expected to begin operations by June 2030 [4]. Barrington Energy is collaborating with MOWD’s team, supporting the development, construction, and operation and maintenance (O&M) phases of the project. Our involvement underscores our commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives and contributing to the success of the Yamagata Yuza project.
Building on past success
Barrington Energy contributed to the success of the Akita Offshore Wind Project [5], especially the Noshiro Wind Farm. This was a major milestone for Japan’s offshore wind industry. Drawing on this experience, we are continuing our work with MOWD as a contractor on the Yamagata Yuza project. Our expertise in managing and executing large-scale projects allows us to deliver valuable engineering and technical solutions to our clients. We’re excited to build on this success and continue contributing to the Yamagata Yuza project.
Supporting Japan’s renewable energy goals
Japan has ambitious renewable energy targets – 10 GW of offshore wind power by 2030 and 45 GW by 2040 [6]. The Yamagata Yuza Offshore Wind Project is key to achieving these targets and helping Japan move closer to carbon neutrality.
As the country’s offshore wind sector rapidly expands, Barrington Energy is proud to support its clean energy transition by providing expertise in engineering, construction, and operations.
With a strong track record in offshore wind, we remain committed to delivering high-quality solutions that contribute to the success of renewable energy projects, helping Japan move toward a more sustainable future.
